Telephone, Cable and Internet
Rockwell Cooperative Telephone Association (RCTA) provides fiber optic internet to all residents in Rockwell. In addition, RCTA offers telephone and cable services. For more information stop in, visit the RCTA website, or call 641-822-3211.
Water & Sanitary Sewer
The City of Rockwell has two full-time employees dedicated to the safe and efficient operation of the water and sanitary sewer system, ensuring uninterrupted service 24/7/365.
Water and electric bills are mailed by the city clerk monthly. Payment may be mailed, dropped off at City Hall, or paid via ACH. For more information or to start/stop service, call the city clerk at 641-822-4906.
Gas & Electricity
Gas and electricity service are provided by MidAmerican Energy. Find detailed information at the MidAmerican Energy website or by calling 888-427-5632.
Garbage & Recycling
Garbage and recycling collection is provided by Waste Management. One garbage and one recycling container are provided to each customer and can be obtained by contacting Waste Management. Garbage is picked up weekly on Thursdays, and recycling is picked up every other Thursday. Garbage and recycling containers must be placed away from obstructions at the curb by 6:00 am.
Please bag your trash and tie the bags before placing them inside your cart. Please break down cardboard before placing it inside your cart.
Residents have options for garbage can size and can request a different size by calling the city clerk at 641-822-4906.
Services Guidelines
Cart Placement
Please place your carts at least 3 feet apart and 3 feet away from any obstacles (trees, cars, mailboxes, etc.) to allow the automatic arm to lift and empty the carts. Place the wheels of the cart toward the house. No material outside of the cart will be collected.

If a holiday occurs on or before your collection day, your waste pickup will be delayed one day that week.
Recycle Right
- Plastic Bottles & Containers
- Recycle plastics like empty bottles, jars, jugs and tubs. Plastic bottle caps can be recycled, too, but put them back on their empty containers first.
- Food and Beverage Cans
- Recycle all empty tin, aluminum, and steel cans. Remove plastic lids from any food or beverage cans before recycling.
- Paper
- Paper, newspaper, and magazines are good to recycle. Soiled or wet paper should be put in the trash.
- Flattened Cardboard & Paperboard
- Flatten and recycle all cardboard and paperboard. Break down and flatten cardboard boxes.
Yard Waste
Open burning of yard waste such as leaves, garden waste, brush, and branches is allowed, but extreme care must be followed. Burning garbage, rubbish, refuse, or recyclable material is prohibited. All open burning is prohibited during burn bans or during periods of high winds. Residents must ensure the fire is continuously monitored by an adult, a water source such as a hose is present, and they should call 911 in the event the fire becomes out of control.
Rockwell residents may dispose of tree branches, limbs, and cut stumps at the city dump. No construction materials, garbage, or concrete is allowed. The dump will be opened when conditions allow. For more information, call 641-822-4906.
Landfill of North Iowa
The Landfill of North Iowa is located at 15942 Killdeer Ave between Clear Lake and Mason City. The landfill accepts garbage, wood waste, hazardous materials, tires, appliances, and other materials.
